Pellet Modules: There are three modules that make up the
pellet processing system in Split-Online. Two of the modules
are for delineation, and you will only use one of them in
a channel depending if the pellets are shiny or dull. The
third module performs size distribution and statistics based
on the results of the delineation module.
Experimentation showed that
the specular reflection of shiny pellets could be used to
optimize the delineations. The difference between the delineation
requirements for high- vs. low-shininess pellets proved to
be enough to warrant a separate delineation module for both
the shiny and dull pellets.
A channel will have one of
the delineation modules followed immediately by the size distribution
module. The size distribution module will typically be followed
by some type of output module as available in the base Split-Online
system.
The pellet modules are packaged
together in a library that plugs into the base Split-Online
system. Analogous to our fragmentation analysis process, the
pellet analysis process is divided into two distinct steps.
In the first step we take a grayscale image and delineate
the pellets in the image. The second step produces size statistics
for the delineated pellets. These steps are conveniently separated
into Split-Online modules.
Pellet examples:
Fertilizer granules
Nickel
pellets (shiny and semi-shiny).
Iron pellets.
Roller screen oversize
pellets.
